imsimity GmbH in St. Georgen in the Black Forest, together with the Ernst-Reuter-Schule in Karlsruhe, has won the “SCHULEWIRTSCHAFT – Digitale Bildung” (“SCHOOL ECONOMY – Digital Education) category of the “Das hat Potenzial!” (That has potential!”) competition. The nationwide SCHULEWIRTSCHAFT network thus honored the Baden cooperation as a role model for outstanding commitment in the area of contemporary school development.
Award for imsimity and Ernst-Reuter-Schule
Virtual Reality (VR) learning environments are the complementary digital learning spaces of tomorrow. The IT experts at imsimity, together with the first smart school in Baden-Württemberg – the Ernst-Reuter-Schule Karlsruhe (ERS) – have set themselves the task of designing these with all the reference groups.
People, who communicate in social-collaborative VR platforms, interact and work together with their avatars. They are capable of using these new learning worlds in a media-competent way. The goal of the collaborative project: German school education would have its finger on the pulse of digitality, which learners already mostly experience as normality in their private lives. A digital school culture characterized by participation can emerge.
Martin Zimmermann, initiator of the collaboration: „We want schools to be able to communicate and interact at eye level with all their stakeholders in a media-sensing way. Added value and goals result from the strength of VR technology: immersion and interaction in real time. We are creating digital coworking spaces for this purpose.“
The jury of the SCHULEWIRTSCHAFT award praised the commitment: “The school and the company are united by the idea of strengthening future and visionary skills and deepening them through the use of virtual 3D spaces. Pupils are supported in their transition to vocational training, especially in the STEM sector, and equipped with the technical skills for the professions of tomorrow.
The imsimity team is pleased to stand on the nationwide winner’s podium together with the ERS Karlsruhe and its two principals Micha Pallesche and Dominik König-Kurowski. The education partners are grateful for this strong sign of appreciation. But above all, the winner’s trophy provides motivation for the further development and continuation of the #digiredsaloon project – not only in Baden-Württemberg.
