HYBRID PROGRAM AT THE VIRTUAL FIRES CONGRESS
16TH VIRTUAL FIRES CONGRESS WILL TAKE PLACE BOTH ANALOG AND DIGITAL
Experts and interested parties from the rescue sector will again exchange information about new technical developments at the Virtual Fires Congress next week.
- Conference for Extended Reality (XR), Simulation, Robotics and Thermodynamics in the Field of Safety & Security
- Online congress program and on-site Best Practice Day
- interactive participation via ZOOM and CYBERCINITY
Germany is on its way out of the pandemic and into a new normality/digitality. For this reason, the 16th Virtual Fires & Rescue Congress will take place in hybrid form – i.e. in digital and analog form. Over two days, the focus will be on the digitalization of rescue services. On July 1,2021 the congress program will take place online with exciting Future Talks and expert talks, product presentations and subsequent discussions. July 2, 2021 will be dedicated to Best Practice. On site, attendees will be able to experience VR/AR applications and drones for themselves. The main topic for the congress this year is “Everything smart and digital? – Significance, risks and benefits of digitality in (civil) security”.
For the first time ever in the history of the congress, a representative of the German armed forces will be there to speak on the first day about the challenges of increasing digitization in the armed forces. Other presentations will then focus, for example, on a helicopter simulator that has been approved for flight training. A talk on robotic dogs and how they can be used in hostile environments is also included in the congress program. A speaker from Austria will also talk about the problems associated with tunnel fires and how to solve them.
A special feature on the first day is certainly the presentation of the Cyber Fire Academy, a virtual training and working environment for fire departments. People can meet here as avatars to work together. The virtual Fire Academy can be used via VR glasses, the browser, but also via smartphone.
On the second day, the virtual reality bus of CoNet GmbH from Switzerland will be in the courtyard of the Technology Center, in which simulations of various deployment scenarios will be run through in several workshops. At the same time, participants can test various VR simulations for hybrid mission training and will be guided by the imsimity GmbH team. In the afternoon, a workshop on the topic of drones in volunteer fire departments will take place with the support of the fire departments from Vöhrenbach and Gremmelsbach.
“As of today, one week before the event, we have about 100 participants,” says Martin Zimmermann, executive board of Virtual Dimension Center St. Georgen (VDC). Nevertheless, with online events, according to the experience of the past one and a half years, most registrations actually come in the last week directly before the event. The participants registered for the congress so far come from all over Germany and neighboring countries such as the Benelux countries, Switzerland, Austria, South Tyrol and France.
“High-tech doesn’t always have to take place in big cities, it can also take place in the deep, dark Black Forest. We are very grateful for the location.” Martin Zimmermann, executive board of the Virtual Dimension Center St. Georgen (VDC)
