Project “Digital Red Saloon” in the final of the Ferry Porsche Challenge “Schule Digital Gestalten” (Shape School Digitally)“
Ernst-Reuter-Schule together with imsimity among the finalists
On 19th July, the Ferry Porsche Foundation announced the winners of the 2021 Ferry Porsche Challenge in a digital awards ceremony. With the competition and a funding volume of 1.2 million euros, the foundation is now supporting 31 nominated schools from the German states of Baden- Wuerttemberg and Saxony.
Following the motto “Shaping School Digitally”, schools from all over Baden-Wuerttemberg and Saxony were able to apply.
As an educational partnership, the Ernst-Reuter-Schule (ERS) Karlsruhe and the digital forge imsimity from St. Georgen in the Black Forest entered the competition with the project “The Digital Red Saloon – Development of a Virtual Coworking Space”. Out of 300 applications, we were nominated for the finale along with 30 other schools. Therefore, ERS and imsimity were allowed to present the concept of the virtual coworking space to the jury in an exciting digital elevator pitch. The project did not make it to the podium, but we are very happy about the donation amount of 15,000 euros for all nominees. In addition to the donation, all winning schools will be supported in the implementation of the projects. Afterwards, these will be documented so that other schools can benefit from the experience. The history of the #digiredsaloon can be continued.
“With the Ferry Porsche Challenge 2021, we want to give digitization in our schools a boost. The results of the challenge show how digitization can be implemented creatively and innovatively. This is exactly where we come in together with the schools. We provide support in the form of the necessary hardware and software and also assist the schools with the digital implementation of the projects” – says Sebastian Rudolph, chairman of the board of the Ferry Porsche Foundation.
The Ferry Porsche Foundation supports and initiates charitable projects in the areas of social welfare, the environment, education and science, culture, and sports. Above all, young people at the company locations of Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG are to be supported. The foundation is named after Ferry Porsche, who founded the Porsche sports car brand in 1948.
