PURE INNOVATION : NURSING TRAINING WITH VR GLASSES
FIRST VR-TRAINING ROOM OPENED IN ST. GEORGEN IN THE BLACK FOREST
In vocational training, new paths are already being taken with digital technology at many levels. Now digitality is also making its way into the field of nursing: In cooperation with the Evangelische Altenhilfe St. Georgen, the imsimity team has developed a training concept based on virtual reality (VR) technology. The aim of the application is, on the one hand, to make the nursing profession more attractive to young people through the use of modern media – and, on the other hand, to make learning easier and more efficient through training in new digital worlds. For the official opening of the VR training room on July 6, 2021 at the evangelische Altenhilfe in St. Georgen, the deputy state chairman of the CDU Baden-Württemberg and district chairman of the CDU in the Schwarzwald-Baar district, Thorsten Frei was also present.
“Nursing is of paramount relevance in our aging society. We need more and more excellently trained personnel. VR and AR can be important aids here. And what is now being launched here in St. Georgen is pure innovation with nationwide appeal” Thorsten Frei, Member of the German Bundestag
Martin Zimmermann, CEO of imsimity, emphasized that by looking through the VR glasses, trainees are placed in realistic nursing scenarios that they will later have to master in their everyday working lives. In this digitally augmented learning environment, users can apply their knowledge and, above all, make mistakes without endangering a real patient in the process. They can practice positioning patients, drawing blood or resuscitation in a safe environment.
